About Harumiruuzu

Hello! I’m Ruth, the artist and crafter behind Harumiruuzu. The name “Harumiruuzu” came from the Japanese name “Harumi” which means spring (season) and beauty, and “ruuzu” which is kind of like a stylized Japanese version of my name. Harumiruuzu has also been my internet alias since many years ago, and I decided to also pass down the name to my small business.
I’m always fascinated with spring not only because it’s the season when you can see so many flowers, but also because it is when plants and trees start to bloom and thrive again after a cold winter season. It’s like a symbol of new beginnings and the strength to grow after a difficult situation. I believe it holds so much meaning and carrying the name “Harumi” reminds me of that and even assures me that I can do the same too.
Before I started my small business, I usually just (aimlessly) posted drawings/paintings from time to time on the internet. I love art and enjoy doing art but I didn’t know exactly what is it for. Eventually, doing it without a purpose made me feel empty. Until one day, I woke up and thought, “Why not start a small business to be able to share my art with others?” After deciding that, I worked hard for months to start my business. I didn’t have anyone to mentor me so I tried to learn everything from scratch. It was not easy but I felt very excited. It felt like me doing art would finally have a purpose for me.
In 2021, I finally launched my online store. My first products were my own designed stickers, pouches, tote bags, and face masks. I also did mini paintings for sale. Later on, I also curated stationery and supplies for creative journaling as an addition to my line of products.
Then at some point, I also rediscovered my passion for crafting jewelry after being inspired by some local handmade jewelry artists in PH. I have already some background in jewelry-making from a few years ago but I guess, it was just a temporary phase for me. But after I stumbled upon the works of the local artists/crafters on social media it made me want to create my own jewelry designs again. From then on, as I gradually started to collect beads and supplies, I fell in love with jewelry-making again.
In 2022, I released my very first earrings collection for my shop, “The Springtime Blossoms Collection”, which unexpectedly became a hit with my customers. The feedback was overwhelmingly warm and positive so it was then that I decided to focus on crafting jewelry products for my shop.
Fast forward to today, the main products of Harumiruuzu now are handmade jewelry — earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and keychains. I have also released a few more collections such as the Enchanted Forest Collection, Frost Collection, Whimsigoth Collection, Daisy Garden Collection, and Harumi’s Garden Collection. In July 2023, I also started a Necklace of the Month Series wherein I make a new necklace design every month. I did it to encourage myself to make and release new designs regularly.
As a one-woman business owner, I admit that things are never easy for me. I’m still always struggling to juggle all the tasks and things to do for the shop to continue its operations. But despite all of it, my shop gave me a sense of purpose and I’m very grateful for it. I don’t know what the future holds, but my wish is that I can continue to work hard and do my best for my shop and for everyone who patronizes my work. ♡ I want to make you (and more people) happy and satisfied by making every one of my products special— like a work of art thoughtfully and carefully made for you.
Thank you for spending time to read my story. I’m very grateful for your support. Have a nice day! ♡
